Is this a will?
No. The brief is a preparation document for your attorney. It isn’t a will, a trust, or legal advice. It makes the attorney meeting shorter, cheaper and better.
Who can see what I put in?
You start alone, and most people do. Nobody else sees anything until you invite them, and when you do, you set what each person can see section by section: money, health, documents. Change it whenever you like.
How is it protected?
The private free-text (the answers in someone’s own words, where the spare keys are, where a login is kept) is encrypted so that even our database can’t read it. The plain structure (that an account exists, that a will exists) stays readable, because that’s what lets us show you the picture. We never sell information.
What happens if Kin disappears?
Nothing, for your family. The brief and the packet are printed paper in your drawer and your attorney’s file. They don’t depend on our servers or on anyone finding your login.
Is the Vault just file storage?
No. Every upload attaches to its place in the picture: the will to the will record, the statement to the account, so nobody is hunting through a folder of scans trying to work out what’s what.
What will the document check do?
It’s what we’re building next. Upload a will, trust or POA and Kin will read it against what your family recorded: who’s named, what’s titled where, what’s changed since it was signed. Then flag what disagrees. You and your attorney decide. Kin proposes, never rewrites. It isn’t live yet, and we’d rather say so than show you findings we invented.
What if I stop paying the annual?
Nothing disappears. The plan and the documents you made are yours. You just stop getting the annual review, the stale-answer flags and fresh reprints. Rejoin whenever life changes.
